Do you think Hawaii is about good food (especially seafood), sunshine and rainbows, tropical sea-breezes, perfect weather
and relaxation? You are right. It certainly is all of that and much more.
For example, on each of the Hawaiian islands the following activities are available: Luaus, swimming, snorkeling,
sunbathing and surfing at beautiful beaches, ATV tours, sport-fishing, horseback riding, scuba diving, helicopter tours,
kayaking, and guided tour to island attractions.
On this site you will find information and a directory of many wonderful attractions and amenities offered on Maui.
This is your source for information on all of the items below. We hope this adds to your fun on Maui.
More is added all the time:
* The Hawaiian Style recipe site is the most comprehensive collection of local recipes we have seen. But.. it was created in 1996 and
we don't see a way to add a recipe or to contact the author.
** We are too busy watching the whales to write about them..... they are here from December through April, so watch for more input
from us after that. Maui is the perfect setting for watching whales. If you are lucky enough to be staying in an ocean-front condo or
hotel, you are sure to see them while sitting on your lanai - without binoculars. We have links to some excellent ones.

Highest Recorded Temperature: Kahului Airport -- 96 degrees, Kihei -- 98 degrees.
Lowest Recorded Temperature: Kahului -- 48 degrees, Haleakala -- 14 degrees.
Average Temperature: Winter months - 71 degrees; Summer months - 79 degrees.
Rainfall: The island of Maui has rain forest and desert conditions. Kihei/Wailea
receives 12 inches (most during the winter);
Hana receives about 90 inches per year while mountain areas may get over 300 inches.
Trade Winds: The constant breezes keep Maui's temperature very comfortable.
The winds are from the northeast at about 5-15 miles per hour,
they naturally cool the air. Trade winds are nearly always calm in the morning hours.
Kona Winds: They come in the opposite direction of the trade winds and usually
indicate bad weather is soon to arrive.
Rainbows: Maui has many rainbows for you to enjoy. Take a drive around the island
late afternoon or early morning and enjoy the sights. Location of the rainbows depends
on the wind direction and wind speed.
Tsunami: The tsunami warning sirens are tested on the first Monday of each month,
usually just before noon.
If the sirens go off at some other time a rare tidal wave or hurricane may be on the way.
This is easy! I learned this on my first trip to Maui. Did it on my second.
1. On your bed, set out all the clothes you plan to bring here.
2. Next to your clothes, put all the money you plan to spend on your vacation.
3. Now, put one half of your clothes back in the closet.
4. Double the amount of money you placed on the bed.
Seriously, everyone who comes here for the first time brings far too many clothes and sundries. Girls, bring only the bare necessities as far as
make-up goes. It's hot here and make-up just doesn't stay on like on the mainland. And hair does not behave the same way either. High
For first-timers: You will probably be wearing shorts, T-shirts and bathing suits the majority of the time. You will need tennis shoes and long
pants if you plan to ride horses or bikes. You should bring a light sweater or jacket. Bring cotton and cotton-blends. Clothes need to breathe.
Also, you will be enticed to buy clothes here. Everyone loves the island-style clothes for sale. Don't buy a wardrobe to bring over. Save some
money to supplement your wardrobe once you get here.
Contact me if you need more information. I have been here since 1985 and have been selling activities and real estate on Maui since 1991.
I love helping people with their vacation planning....
